Mobile Meals provides a hot noon meal to the elderly, the physically challenged, convalescing persons who unable to prepare healthy meals for themselves. This ministry is a co-operative effort of Unity United Methodist, St.Enoch Lutheran, and faithful donations by The Charles A Cannon Charitable Trust, The Duke Endowment, West Corinth Baptist Church, individuals, businesses, neighbors, friends, and relatives. We receive no government funding. We rely solely on the generosity of local people, churches, fundraisers, and grants. There is no cost to the recipients for our service.
This program is rewarding to all involved:
Allie, who works in the kitchen and also “pinch hits” as a driver, indicates. “It really means a lot to me. We deliver meals and sometimes the recipients see only the drivers all week. Sometimes it is the only hot meal they get in a day. I’ve been doing this for about 5 years and I get a blessing every day…”
Lois, who cooks and manages the kitchen, shares, “I love to cook. You know you are doing something to help others. In my former career, I had to be unattached, distant, and there was something missing. Now I am fulfilled and others are getting what they need.”
